Cleaning the Bath Tub

We have a beautiful bath tub in our bathroom but it’s rare for anyone to take a bath. We are power shower people here and as a result the bath tub gets dusty. It just seems odd to dust a bath but it has to be done about once a week or the dust looks terrible against the white enamel surface.

Actually when anyone takes a bath they probably have to dust it first if it hasn’t just been dusted otherwise the water would be far from clean.

I wonder if we are the only house where we have to dust the bath tub…probably not. I guess more people take showers these days than anything.

Condensation Problems

My bathroom is a bit of a condensation nightmare as there is no room for the steam to escape.

To explain, we live in a terraced house built around 1903 and there are no windows in the tiny bathroom. Instead there is a beautiful pyramid shaped glass cupola which lets in light but can’t be opened. There is a small electric extractor fan which is supposed to remove condensation but it seems to struggle with the job.

So fighting damp is a constant battle.

Now all this would probably be fine if everyone had a quick shower and out in the morning but my family seem to be an age in there and the steam gathers…

I think I will call in an electrician this week to see if it’s possible to get a more powerful extractor. That way when I redecorate the paint will stay looking fresh a lot longer (and might just stay on the walls instead of peeling off).

If anyone had told me a few years ago that I would be remotely interested in bathrooms and especially in bathroom accessories I would have laughed but these days I am getting obsessed.

Well, not quite obsessed but you know what I mean.

I now hanker after more money to buy home wares rather than clothes and shoes – that’s quite sad really isn’t it – maybe I’ve just given up trying to be gorgeous and hoping I can make a gorgeous house instead.

Anyway my bathroom is a bit of a fright – mainly superficial stuff so I am very into bathroom magazines just now. The problem is most of them seem to have so much more space than I do and not such tricky (old) plumbing – I can’t even start to think about moving anything around.

I suppose if I wanted to go into a mountain of debt it could be achieved but things being as they are just now it’s not a great time to do that (if it ever was for the sake of moving a toilet).

Anyway I’ll see what I can come up with when I have my cost-saving bathroom enhancing hat on.
